The aim of the GESSC would be to develop relevant and useful safety-related and engineering-related standards / codes of good practices to facilitate trade for industries, promote a safer and healthier workplace and to safeguard Singapore’s interest through participation in international activities.

The scope of GESSC covers:

  • Standardisation in the field of engineering with special focus on generic terminology, processes and practices.
  • Standardisation on health and safety matters that are of interest to all stakeholders.

 

Note: The General Engineering and Safety Standards Committee (GESSC) was established in October 2001 to undertake the work of the Mechanical Standards Committee (dissolved in September 2001), the Industrial Safety Standards Committee (dissolved in September 2001) and the Packaging Standards Committee (dissolved in September 2001).
