SEMINAR ON SINGAPORE STANDARDS AND THE FACTORIES ACT

The amendments to the Factories Act (Chapter 104) was in January 2000 to provide better protection for the safety and health of workers employed in factories. The amendments also introduced provisions to enhance the framework for self-regulation within factories. Among the various key amendments, factories are required to comply with the Singapore Standards that the Minister of Manpower may prescribe, by order published in the Gazette.

This seminar is jointly organised by the Ministry of Manpower and PSB to provide early alert on the possible Singapore Standards that the Ministry may choose to release under this order. A total of three standards and two draft standards will be introduced to the public.
