Seminar on Codex International Food Standards for Food Exporters & Cold Chain Management of Milk and Dairy Products The Codex Alimentarius is an international food-standard-setting organisation established by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations and the World Health Organisation (WHO) to meet the need for international standards to guide the world's growing food industry. It provides the only international set of rules and guidelines aimed at protecting the health of the consumers, to facilitate trade in food, ensuring fair practices in food trade and promoting harmonisation of food standards. What is Cold Chain Management of Milk and Dairy Products? It is a total concept of managing every link of the cold chain to improve and uphold the freshness, quality and shelf life of milk and dairy products. Stringent safety and hygienic practices are observed together with the careful management of managing the temperature profile of the supply chain. It involves the proper management of every link of the cold chain stretching from the dairy farm, the dairy plant, the distribution, the warehouse, the point of sale at the retail outlets/supermarkets and finally to the consumers. The seminar is organised by the National Food Standards Committee, PSB; and supported by the Ministry of the Environment and Agri-food & Veterinary Authority, Singapore Food Manufacturers' Association, Singapore Confederation of Industry, ECR (Singapore) and Singapore Article Number Council.
