Some Highlights
For establishment
Code of practice for preparation and use of material
safety data sheets (MSDS)
This code gives recommendations for the preparation, review,
re-issue and application of MSDS. It covers the responsibility of the
suppliers and manufacturers of chemical substances and preparations in
the compilation and completion of an MSDS, and that of users (employers
and employees) to make use of the information in the MSDS to prevent unnecessary
exposure to persons in the workplace and in the community. The code does
not cover the use of pharmaceutical substances and preparations by medical
physicians and veterinarians in the management of the health of a person
or an animal, but applies to the production and use of these substances
and preparations in an industrial process.
(Issued on 2 November 2001 ; Comment
closes on 3 January 2002)
Code of practice for manual material handling
The purpose of this code is to provide information and
guidance for the identification, assessment and control of risks arising
from manual handling activities in workplaces and on the planning and
implementation of an ergonomics programme for manual handling operations.
It is not possible to provide details covering every situation of manual
handling but the principles given here may be adapted to apply to a variety
of manual handling operations.
